The Artist’s Stunning Sunset Vision Helps Raise Money for a Good Cause

The world-renowned research hospital, endlessly dedicated to tackling the devastations of childhood cancer, revived its annual Las Vegas event - entitled this year as An Affair of the Art – on Saturday, May 7 at the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas. As a three-time partner of the event, Peter Lik generously donated his epic image, Blush, to be auctioned off alongside many other incredible works from local artists. With just under $400,000 raised throughout the course of the evening, there is no doubt this was a truly successful endeavor.

As a stream of over 500 guests and honorees began the evening with a lavish cocktail hour, they gazed at a vast array of fine art items, there to hitch rides home with the highest bidders. One of the standout pieces of the showcase was Peter’s stirring sunset image, Blush. Captured in his home country of Australia, this panoramic triumph, beautifully set in a 200cm handcrafted wooden frame, uncovers the unique purple and pink hues that can only be witnessed during fleeting times of the day. It was sold to a well-known, local physician for an impressive $6,500 – making it one of the highest selling items of the night.

The event, which mainly focused on the great and important work being done by top physicians in the field, also included live musical entertainment and a touching tribute video to a young cancer sufferer: “I am so moved by the work of St. Jude,” Peter Lik remarks. “The struggle of these children is long and hard, and I am honored to help in any way I can.” As a consistent contributor to the events of St. Jude, which has pushed the childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent since its beginnings, Peter looks forward to joining forces with the organization once again in the not-too-distant future.

So, stay tuned for more!
