Peter Lik Wins PSNZ Trophy Second Year in a Row

Updated 07/28/2021
Another prestigious honor has amplified this incredibly stellar year for the artist’s highly acclaimed landscape photography.

The Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) has announced the results of their 2015 National Exhibition, sponsored by industry giant, Canon, and Peter has unsurprisingly come out on top with a very special award for the second time in two years.

It is one of his most notable images, taken at dusk in the great outdoors of Oregon. Celestial Dreams (seen above), was accepted into PSNZ’s 2015 National Exhibition along with Painted Shores, Crimson Tides, and Scarlet Moods – all photographs have been hailed by critics and collectors around the globe. However, in the end, it was Celestial Dreams that garnered Peter the Eric Young Memorial Trophy & PSNZ Gold Medal for Best Landscape Projected Image. He had previously won the award in 2014 for his masterwork, Allure.

The commemorative trophy itself was initially presented in 1992 to PSNZ by Auckland photographer Young’s family, and has since become a coveted symbol of great landscape photography. “This honor means so much for so many reasons,” Peter commented. “Just to be considered by PSNZ is a thrill – let alone winning an award two years straight from such a prominent force in the industry! The trophy originated from a real heartfelt place and I am proud to be part of this ongoing, sacred tradition.”
